In a dramatic Divisional Round playoff game at Soldier Field, the Chicago Bears were eliminated after a 20–17 loss to the Los Angeles Rams, advancing to the NFC Championship Game. The game captivated American fans with its breathtaking back-and-forth action, high emotional moments, and the outstanding yet heartbreaking performances of Caleb Williams and the Bears.

Under coach Ben Johnson, the Bears had a transformative season, taking the top spot in the NFC North after many years, with a “Cardiac Bears” performance featuring numerous late leads and spectacular comebacks. However, the team was unable to translate that progress into further success.
Caleb Williams, 24, continued to showcase his instincts by throwing a spectacular touchdown late in the game to tie the series 17–17 and send the game into overtime, one of the most memorable offensive plays of the season.

However, in overtime, a crucial interception that directed a shot to DJ Moore was caught by Rams safety Kam Curl, giving Los Angeles the advantage and ultimately a 42-yard field goal by Harrison Mevis. Williams later described this as a “miscommunication” between him and Moore—a cruel turning point for the Bears.
Williams’s overall performance ended with 257 yards, 2 touchdowns, and 3 interceptions, highlighting both the young star’s strengths and weaknesses. Nevertheless, post-game analysis praised his performance and Chicago’s clear improvement in the 2025 season—a year in which the Bears have become a far more formidable team than the previous one.

Coach Ben Johnson and Williams both emphasized the fighting spirit and desire to continue improving after the defeat. Johnson affirmed his belief in Williams and the team’s progress, while Williams shared that he would use this experience as motivation to become better for the next season.
Although the Bears’ playoffs ended painfully, the 2025 season is still seen as a turning point for the organization — from a team that wasn’t expected to achieve great things to a real contender in the NFC, bringing strong hope and high expectations to fans for the 2026 season.
