Missouri’s transfer portal surge isn’t slowing down — and once again, it runs straight through Miami.
The Tigers added former Hurricanes linebacker Bobby Washington on Saturday, continuing a growing exchange between the two programs as Mizzou reshapes its defense ahead of the 2026 season. Washington becomes the third Miami transfer to commit to Missouri this cycle, joining linebacker Malik Bryant and defensive lineman Donta Simpson in donning black and gold.

The move comes just days after Missouri EDGE Damon Wilson headed the opposite direction to Miami, further tightening the unexpected pipeline between Columbia and Coral Gables.
A Miami native, Washington spent three seasons with the Hurricanes, appearing in 14 games (including one redshirt year). While his stat line — seven total tackles and half a sack — doesn’t jump off the page, his story may be far from finished. Washington missed the entire 2025 season due to injury, then entered the transfer portal earlier this week, searching for a fresh start.
Coming out of high school, Washington was a three-star prospect who chose Miami over offers from Auburn, Illinois, and Indiana, a testament to his raw potential and upside. Now, Missouri is betting that a change of scenery — and opportunity — could unlock the player many believed he could become.

Whether Washington steps into an immediate starting role remains uncertain, especially with Mizzou already stacking talent through the portal. But as history often shows, new systems and new environments can be the spark some players need.
With Washington’s commitment, Missouri’s transfer class now sits at 28 players, placing the Tigers firmly in the Top 25 nationally — and still climbing.
