112. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander Affirms Determination, Thunder Aims to Defend Their NBA Title

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander as their leader and a team reaching its peak, the Oklahoma City Thunder have a great opportunity to continue their successful journey towards conquering the 2026 NBA season…

The Oklahoma City Thunder sent a strong message to the entire NBA after a convincing 122–102 victory over the Milwaukee Bucks. Under the leadership of Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, who scored 40 points, the Thunder continued to show why they are considered the strongest team in the league at the moment.

Despite their impressive 37-8 record and leading position in the NBA, Oklahoma City had previously faced doubts about their ability to maintain their form, especially after some notable losses in early January. However, recent victories against the Cleveland Cavaliers and Milwaukee Bucks show that the Thunder have quickly regained the necessary stability.

After the game, Gilgeous-Alexander frankly shared that the Thunder are not satisfied with what they have achieved. According to the Canadian star, the team possesses a highly motivated group, always aiming to improve themselves and continue conquering new heights, rather than settling for a past title.

“We have a group of players who are determined and hungry for victory,” Gilgeous-Alexander declared. “We’re not satisfied with just one championship. We play this sport, we take possession to excel and maximize our potential, and we still feel we have a lot of room to grow, and that’s what we’re pursuing.”

Currently, the Oklahoma City Thunder are dominating the Western Conference standings, creating a 6.5-game lead over their closest rivals. Furthermore, their performance statistics support their ambitions: the Thunder are leading the NBA in defensive performance and are in the top 3 offensively, a familiar pattern for many champions in the league’s history.

The average points per game of +13.6 continues to reflect OKC’s overall strength, even surpassing their previous championship-winning season. However, Jalen Williams’ injury and the pressure to maintain consistent performance over the long term remain significant challenges.

As the All-Star break approaches, the Thunder seem to have overcome the most difficult phase of the season. With Shai Gilgeous-Alexander as their leader and a team reaching its peak, the Oklahoma City Thunder have a great opportunity to continue their successful journey towards conquering the 2026 NBA season.
